A soak tank is a heated cleaning tank. You fill it with water and our Cleantank cleaning detergent, then plug it into a standard power outlet. The tank maintains hot water temperature and uses the detergent to soften and lift grease, oil, and carbon from your equipment . You simply soak dirty items for a recommended period (usually a few hours or overnight for heavy build up), then pull them out, rinse with fresh water, and they’re clean – no scrubbing required!
Almost any metal item from your commercial kitchen can be cleaned in a soak tank. Common examples include: hood filters, oven racks, stove burner grates, grill tops, baking trays, pots and pans, fryer baskets, and utensils. It’s safe for stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminium cookware (unlike some caustic cleaners, our process won’t pit or corrode aluminium ). Even baked-on carbon and grease deposits on baking sheets or barbecue grills will come off after soaking. (Note: Items like electrical components or sharp knives should not be placed in the tank. When in doubt, ask us!). If it’s metal and dirty, a soak tank will probably clean it.
Yes – we use a non-toxic, biodegradable cleaning powder that’s specifically formulated for soak tanks . It’s powerful on grease but gentle on your equipment and safe for your staff (no harsh fumes or skin-burning chemicals). The solution is also food-industry approved and HACCP compliant, so you can confidently use it in a food preparation environment. We care about the environment too – the detergent is phosphate-free and the waste water can be disposed of safely following guidelines.
Typically, the soak tank’s solution is changed about once a month . Our detergent is designed to work continuously, so you can use the same tank of solution for roughly 4 weeks (depending on how heavily soiled your items are). You’ll know it’s time to change when the solution gets very dirty or less effective. Changing the solution is simple: drain the tank (there’s a built-in drain valve), dispose of the used solution, then refill with fresh water and add the detergent powder. We provide full instructions and support to make this process easy.
We provide delivery Australia-wide. Our team will coordinate a delivery time, deliver the soak tank to your facility, and assist with the setup. The tanks are on wheels, so they can be rolled into place easily. There is no special plumbing required – just park it where you want and fill it with water using a hose or tap . We’ll also show your staff how to operate it safely and efficiently. If you ever relocate or need to move the tank, it can be drained and moved without hassle.
Not much at all. Each tank uses a heating element (similar to a large kettle or urn) to maintain the water temperature. It is thermostatically controlled, meaning it heats only as needed. The power consumption is modest – roughly equivalent to a standard appliance when heating. Many customers leave the tank on overnight (for overnight soaking) and find the electricity cost is minimal compared to the labour and water savings.
